Prerequisites
To enroll in this digital marketing essentials course, you should possess the following:
- 1 GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent (≥ 21 years old); or
- NITEC/Higher NITEC (≥ 21 years old); or
- Mature candidates (≥ 30 years old with 8 years of work experience); or
- Candidates with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
You will need basic computer skills. While optional, having a basic understanding of sales and marketing concepts would be beneficial.

WSQ Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Module 1: Understanding the Fundamentals of SEO
- Dive into the foundational significance of SEO in marketing. Understand what SEO is, its role in a company’s marketing strategy, and its benefits through real-life case studies.
- Explore the tools available to identify target customers and the pros and cons of both SEO and SEM. This module also introduces the 4-step SEO process as a framework for further exploration.
Module 2: Navigating On-Page SEO
- Understand the fundamentals of keyword research, including its importance and four key principles.
- Learn how to perform customer and buyer persona research, understanding the buying journey, search intent, site information architecture, and the use of free and premium keyword research tools.
- Examine on-page optimization best practices, such as H1 & Title tags, domain and URL optimization, meta descriptions, image optimization, content creation, and conducting on-page SEO audits.
Module 3: Enhancing SEO through Link Building
- Learn about off-page SEO, which includes the importance of link building and the anatomy of a quality backlink.
- Dive into the three major off-page ranking factors, the relevance of social media signals, managing Google search engine penalties, and implementing effective link-building and outreach strategies.
- Apply a practical 4-step link-building process with a template.
Module 4: Measuring and Analyzing SEO Performance
- Measure and track SEO success by monitoring keyword rankings and creating improvement plans.
- Discover essential SEO metrics and insights into utilizing Google Search Console, including website verification, sitemap submission, and walkthroughs of key features and performance data.
- Examine real-world case studies on diagnosing rankability for effective SEO campaigns.

Do I have to prepare anything before attending the course?
For in-person training, do bring along a laptop. You also have the option to loan a laptop from us for the duration of the course. You may also want to bring along a jacket in case the room gets cold.
For online classes, do ensure you have a functional laptop and have Zoom installed prior to class.
As there will be WSQ assessments conducted in this course, you are required to bring along your NRIC or any form of photo identification for ID verification purposes.
