Overview of Course

A well-designed IT infrastructure is the backbone of any successful business, supporting day-to-day operations, enabling growth and fostering innovation.

This IT Infrastructure Planning & Optimisation course provides the knowledge and skills you need to plan, design and optimise such a critical asset. Through this course, you will gain an understanding of the fundamental components of IT Infrastructure, mastering strategic design, capacity planning, and performance optimisation. You’ll gain the skills to develop, implement and manage efficient, scalable, and cost-effective IT infrastructures.

Whether you’re looking to enhance your professional development or simply deepen your understanding of this critical area, this course is the perfect starting point.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, trainees should be able to:

  • Articulate the components of infrastructure planning, including analysing stakeholder requirements and strategically developing IT infrastructure within an organisational context.
  • Design robust and scalable IT infrastructures that reliably meet performance expectations by selecting appropriate architectures for servers, networks, storage, and data backup/recovery methods.
  • Apply knowledge of virtualisation and cloud technologies to select appropriate cloud service models and deploy infrastructure effectively in cloud-based projects.
  • Evaluate the IT security policies, authentication, and authorisation mechanisms in identity and access management to address threats and vulnerabilities, including fulfilling the regulatory and audit compliance requirements.
  • Discuss key IT service delivery frameworks and methodologies, including ITIL and COBIT, change management, and release practices, enabling them to manage SLAs effectively for enhanced organisational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Enhance system or network efficiency and responsiveness by identifying and mitigating performance bottlenecks, implementing monitoring solutions, and utilising performance metrics to proactively address potential issues in a high-performance IT environment.
  • Document and communicate complex infrastructure designs effectively, including capturing system architecture, configuration, and operational procedures to convey technical information clearly within cross-functional teams.

  • Candidates with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Instructional Methods

  • Lectures: Traditional lectures are an essential component of the course, where the trainer/facilitator introduces concepts, theories, and principles of IT infrastructure planning and optimisation. Lectures cover the fundamentals and skills required to strategically plan, design, and optimise robust and efficient infrastructures.
  • Demonstration: To visually illustrate the application of concepts covered in lectures. Demonstrations are performed by the trainer/facilitator to show how to design and implement infrastructure solutions that prioritise performance optimisation with optimum network and storage design.
  • Hands-on Labs: To provide hands-on experience setting up cloud infrastructure. The lab session enables participants to apply what they have learned in a controlled environment, reinforcing knowledge through practice.

Certification

Upon completing the IT Infrastructure Planning & Optimisation course assessment, participants who have attended at least 75% of the course will receive a Certificate of Achievement by @ASK Training.
