Navigating the Transition with @ASK Training

The landscape of professional development in Singapore is entering a significant new chapter.

Following the passing of the Skills and Workforce Development Agency Bill on May 5, 2026, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) will merge to form a single statutory body: the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA).

Targeted to be established in the third quarter of 2026, this move creates a “one-stop shop” for workers and employers alike.

At @ASK Training, we are closely following this transition to ensure our learners are prepared to thrive within this more integrated ecosystem.

A Unified Vision for Your Career

The formation of the SWDA, jointly overseen by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), aims to build a more “end-to-end” system.

Under the leadership of Ms Dilys Boey, who will serve as the agency’s chief executive, the SWDA’s mission is clear:

To help Singaporeans stay adaptable in a fast-changing economy by supporting career planning, skills upgrading, and job transitions.

As Manpower Minister Tan See Leng highlighted in Parliament, the goal is to be more “predictive, anticipatory, as well as responsive and targeted.”

For you, this means training is becoming even more intentional. Shifting from simply acquiring credits to achieving measurable career outcomes, such as wage growth and successful job placements.

How @ASK Training is Aligning with the SWDA

As a dedicated training provider, @ASK Training is already refining our engagement model to match the SWDA’s proactive and data-driven direction.

Here is how we are supporting your journey through this transition:

Bridging the “Career-Transition Gap”

The SWDA focuses heavily on supporting mid-career professionals. We align with this by offering courses that empower you to take charge of your “career health,” ensuring your skills remain relevant even as industries face technological disruption.

Targeted Skills Upgrading

With the new agency plan to tap into real-world job trends and skills demand, @ASK Training continues to provide curriculum, from Generative AI to Digital Transformation, that responds directly to real-world demand signals.

From Education to Employment

The SWDA aims to bring career guidance and industry exposure earlier in the learning journey. Similarly, our hands-on IT and power skills programmes are designed to help learners translate qualifications into immediate employment opportunities.

Side Note: What Are Power Skills?

These are the essential “human” abilities, such as effective communication, critical thinking, and adaptability, that stay valuable even as technology changes.

While technical skills get you the job, these are the “forever skills” that ensure long-term career resilience.

Looking Ahead

The merger of SSG and WSG is a response to a world that looks very different from what it did a decade ago.

It is about creating a culture where lifelong learning is rooted in the DNA of the Singapore workforce.

At @ASK Training, we are proud to be your partner in this journey. We are here to ensure that as the national framework evolves to become more seamless and intuitive, you have a trusted partner to guide you through every skills upgrade and career pivot.
