Logistical Requirements

1. Introduction: How Websites Work (20 mins)
   • What is a website? (domains, hosting, CMS explained simply)
   • Wix vs WordPress (5-min demo comparison) — Which one is right for you? Why we’re using Wix today for ease and speed
   • Show inspiring examples of effective 1-page sites (personal brands, portfolios, etc.)
2. Setting Up (20 mins)
   • Create a free Wix account
   • Choose and apply a simple one-page template
   • Basic tour of the Wix interface
3. Crafting Your Single Page (1 hour)
   • Homepage Structure (acts as the whole site):
     • Hero banner: Headline, subheadline, call-to-action
     • About You / Business Summary (keep it short & impactful)
     • Key offerings / services OR Portfolio highlights
     • Contact section: simple form or email/social links
   • Hands-on guidance for each section:
     • Editing text, images (sourcing free images)
     • Formatting layouts, spacing, alignment
     • Mobile-friendly preview
4. Design & Branding Polish (30 mins)
   • Consistent fonts, colours (using free colour palettes)
   • Simple logo creation via Canva
   • Navigation menu tips (even on a 1-page site: anchor links)
   • Basic visual hierarchy for clarity
5. Going Live + Next Steps (20 mins)
   • Publishing steps (using Wix’s free domain option)
   • Basic SEO setup (page title, meta description, URL structure)
   • Common beginner mistakes to avoid
   • Resources to keep learning and expanding to a multi-page site later
6. Q&A / Sharing (Optional if time allows)
   • Troubleshooting

With over 18 years of experience as a Creative Web and Graphic Designer, Winnie Liu brings a strong foundation in visual communications and digital marketing. As a former entrepreneur who ran her own design business, she has worked closely with clients to create impactful branding materials as well as websites—helping businesses communicate their identity effectively across digital and print platforms.

Over the past eight years, she has seamlessly transitioned into training and education, driven by a passion for sharing knowledge and empowering others. As an ACTA-certified trainer, she specializes in soft skills, digital literacy, and corporate training. Her approach focuses on simplifying complex concepts through structured methodologies, clear visuals, and relatable real-world examples to help learners of all levels gain confidence and competence.
